I was leery after seeing pictures of the product and reading some of the more negative reviews but given the price of other GPS holders,this one was worth a try. And am I glad I did. The mount is much more stable
than I expected, given the weight of my GPS unit, and the support leg which rests firmly on the vent prevents any downward tipping. I also have very sturdy vent louvers which help support the total weight. Since I have vertical louvers in the vent, I can adjust them to prevent any lateral movement of the mount,although that could also be prevented with a simple clip on the horizontal louver. I also like the fact the unit is mounted below windshield level both for safety and security reasons. The two mounting clips will drive you nuts at first trying to get them both open and mounted at the same time but it is the only and minor complaint I have about the mount. Give this a try before you spend the big bucks.
Better positioning than the windshield mount. The only drawback is you can’t adjust the air flow for the vent.
The idea is simple, take advantage of something that all cars have the Dash Vent. I am sure that the effectiveness if this little mount will vary depending on the construction and style of the vent. In our 2007 Chevrolet HHR this mount works well. If your vent is very lightly constructed then I would look at a different style of mount. I do not believe that you can beet this mount for the price !
I recently purchased a new 528I without navigation. I purchased the 3.5 inch Garmin Nuvi and used the Arkon vent mount to mount it in the vehicle. The only problem I have is the vent mount is not tight buit it is not that big a deal. It works just fine and holds the unit out of the way and does not block any part of the data screen for all the function controls. I recommend it.
Have used MANY things from Amazon and 99.9% worked great….
This one item shakes my confidence in what Amazon carries…
Either of my gps’s in either car just flop around and fall down as soon as put on…
Not worth the trouble to return…
