I bought a Flip Mino from Amazon 1.5 years ago. It worked beautifully until recently, it froze. I tried resetting it and charging it over night, but nothing worked. Customer Service blew me off completely, saying that since my 90 day warranty was up, they couldn’t help me. After reading numerous Flip forums on line, it seems this is a common problem with their products freezing, and then customer service not helping. It’s a cool little camcorder, but it’s too expensive to be disposable after 1.5 years or less!!!

Purchased 3rd. Flip…the non HD Mino… the best thing about all the Flip cameras is the software…movies with my own music, editing, and still pictures…I use my Ultra for underwater video…I do not recommend HD as you have to step back away from subject, was not able to use with older computer due to amount of memory with HD, and subject not as bright as compared with plain Mino…I do not need 120 minutes as I download day by day…

This is a nice compact little unit for basic videos, easy to use and carry along. Be sure to look over the warranty, however. We had a 6-month old, barely-used Flip just quit working, and it appears all the company will do is maybe get the videos off for the ‘victims’ of their equipment.

What kind of company warranties their product for 90 days? One that knows that it’s pretty likely to fail in less than a year, apparently, and they don’t want the expense of having to fix them. I guess we could blame weak US consumer laws for this, but when you’re buying this, imagine yourself in 4 months having a non-functioning piece of plastic for your investment.

To the company who makes this: If you think you make a decent product, why not stand behind it and give a normal one-year warranty? Your 90 days is what companies give that sell junk, or else refurbished items. Nobody would buy your product if they knew it was going to fail in 4 months or 6 months, so either build it decently or make it out of cardboard like a disposable camera, so people know it’s a throwaway.

This is the second Flip that I have purchased. I gave it as a gift to my nine-year old granddaughter who is much more alert to the workings of this camera. She was able to use it with ease and much faster than me,.

When I first got this, I admit I was happy with it, using it to record anything that seemed interesting to me. The portability factor and the simple fact that it’s so easy to use and to upload the vid to your computer was what had originally attracted me to purchasing this product. But early on, one of the main things that bothered me about this was the fact that it doesn’t have any decent stabilization. And I understand, for something of this size and price, it wouldn’t, but quite frankly the video quality that I get from my Leica C-LUX 3 digital camera or a Canon P&S digital camera (that takes HD) is going to be much better, trust me on this.

Pretty much you get this mainly because you want something aside from your point & shoot that takes video and that you can upload quickly to your computer and/or on to the internet. I, and am sure others will admit that you really don’t need something like this, you just want to get it just because, since I’m sure most of the people like myself who end up buying one already have a digital camera that has video recording capability.

Not even 2yrs since I bought this, it stopped working. I press the button to turn it on but nothing happens, I flip open the USB and connect it to my laptop but no icon shows that anything is connected. This was a waste of money and I honestly would not recommend anyone to get this particular model – I’m not sure if the newer versions work better, but please steer clear of this one. Ultimately, if I could give some advice, I would just use the video function on your point & shoot digital camera (provided that your P&S takes HD), instead of purchasing yourself a Flip Video – it just simply is going to be better for you in all aspects.
