The hinge on this holder has a flimsy, plastic loop which will snap after a couple of swings of the holder’s arm.
So, if you do not change the position of the unit more than once (i.e. move it from window mount to dashboard mount), you should be fine.
I learned the hard way and had to have it replaced. Fortunately, it’s not an expensive item and Ritz Camera sent it quickly.
We broke our little hinge on our old stand and this was the perfect replacement without buying a whole new stand. Thank you!

The original part supplied by Garmin lasted a little over a year. I am hoping for better life out of this one. shape is not exactly the same as Garmin, but it functions the same. A good value.
Does the job, but I’m replacing the one that came with my nuiv with the same item. The first one broke at the hinge and the gps would keep falling off. At the same time I bought this one I bought 2 holder that attach to the vent (they are very inexpensive compared to this), and I like those so much more. First, they are well within reach when your driving. (I try to only update it when I’m stopped) Second, they don’t fall off the window in temperature extremes (cold or hot). The vent holders are legal in CA, but so is pot. They don’t leave the suction cup mark on you window so everyone knows you have a gps in the car. I can’t think of any advantage the suction cup has over the vent mounts.
