I did a lot of research and comparison between portable video cameras. My purpose is to take videos of my 3 year old son on our bahamas vacation. This one stood out and I was so glad I bought it. Video resolution, which is the most important thing, is just stunning – that alone gets your money’s worth. I do not feel embarrassed bringing out a bulky fold out touch screen video cam anymore. I have it in my pocket like a blackberry and just slide it out whenever.

Its so easy to use and, unlike other portable cams, it comes with all the cables you need e.g. HDMI cable, regular RCA cable, USB/wall adapter, and the software. I used the software and let me tell you – its sooo easy to create movies with it and burn on a DVD. I am picky with my electronics and this one is a really great buy.

But wait, there’s more… its WATERPROOF, I can take videos of my son on the pool and in the pool (3 meters)! All these conveniences, functionality, and quality in just over $100! I highly recommed it.

I am quite happy with my Kodak Play Sport. It takes great action shots of my ferrets. I am also pleased with how quick it turns on and off, keeps me from missing the moment.

This camera is great. Very convenient since you can put it in your pocket as you walk out the door. I find myself taking video of more things since it’s easy to carry and the software makes it VERY easy to post on youtube. I would suggest an extra battery.

This camera is not only cute, but it is also easy to use. I was worried about the image being “shakey”, but I have not had this problem yet!

Have had this for about a month and have been using it to record the kids frolicking and tried once to record audio for a band I’m in.

First off: I ordered it blue. What this means to Kodak, apparently, is that I want it to be HALF blue … the side with the lens is blue as pictured, but the screen side is still white. ??? Looks terrible, which, in the era of iPhone 4, is just not okay anymore.

Video is adequate for this little device. No real surprises here.

Audio varies from minimally adequate to downright awful. Every twenty clips or so, the audio is this very loud white noise with a hint of the action’s sound behind it. As far as I can tell, no way to predict when this will occur. Audio is mono, as far as I can tell … only one tiny little microphone hole. Sound was completely overwhelmed by my band, a ten-piece jobby with guitars, drums, brass, etc. We’re pretty quiet as this sort of band goes, so I was surprised it couldn’t handle it.

Interface is weird. There is a little camera icon button beside the joypad … this seems to adjust the brightness of the screen. One of the settings is a very dark black and white setting. Perhaps I’m ignorant, but I can never ever imagine a single use for this. Huge annoyance: adjusting screen brightness during recording STOPS THE RECORDING. Completely unnecessary. Also, icon has rubbed almost completely off in just a couple of diaper-bag outings. Why not make the button bigger and emboss the icon?

Playback on the device itself is inadequate; no volume control as far as I can tell (and shouldn’t I be able to tell?); the provided locked-in volume is WAAAAAAAAAAY quiet.

Included wrist strap must be removed to mount on a tripod (again … why would you design it this way, Kodak?).

In summary: Unless you MUST go underwater, I’d just get the new iPhone if I had to do it over again, even sacrificing some resolution. Bummer timing on my part here! However, if you’re an anti-Apple freak and/or don’t want to spend iPhone-type dollars on this sort of device, go for it. It’s minimally adequate, as its price attests.
