This thing is so good, I told a friend about it and she plopped right down and ordered it. It is hundreds of hours of high quality recording, so easy. Two buttons, at most, and no tapes! Cheap at twice the price! I love this thing. I use it for dictation to myself as I am writing a novel. Wonderful. I highly recommend it to everyone.Olympus VN-5200PC Digital Voice Recorder

Buyer’s beware. Olympus support is horrible. If you ever lose or damage your software Olympus will not help you get it. I lost my CD when I moved and you can’t download the software anywhere (you can’t even buy it from Olympus). Now I have a completely worthless digital recorder. I’LL NEVER BUY OLYMPUS AGAIN.

This handy little gadget is about the size of a cell phone. It’s compact, unobtrusive, and easy to use. Even without an external mic I was able to record interviews at a trade show as well as one on one in a quieter setting. You can slow the play-back speed down to help in transcribing notes if you choose to type it up that way. The trade show recordings were understandably a little fuzzier but for the price of this digital voice recorder, you really can’t beat it. An extra mic would help if this is how you plan to use it. The only problem I had with it was in stopping/starting the recording to transcribe afterwards, I would accidentally go back to the beginning instead of the point where I wanted to stop.

I bought this for my son to use for an 8th grade science project on vocal pitch. He has had no trouble using it, although I did have to help him figure out some of its functions. It holds many more hours of recordings than he will ever need, and he’s been using it for weeks on the same batteries. The recording quality is amazing for the tiny size of the recorder, and it comes with a USB cable that makes copying the recordings to the computer a snap. Now if only I can get him in the habit of using it to take notes on homework assignments…

This product is a MUST for college students. I use it every class session and I listen to the lectures at home and it allows me to write everything word per word because the recording comes out very clear. I also love the option of playing the recordings slower than usual!
