I have no problems with the card. SanDisk Extreme is a great brand with trusted performance. My beef is with the seller’s persistent use of an incorrect product technical details – saying that the package includes a MicroMate Reader. It does not. Not the one I got anyway. Nor the few spurned buyers in the Customer Discussions forum below. This sucks for me because I bought this Class 6 card rather than a Class 10 of the same size based solely on the fact that the slower card came with a handy portable reader.
I’ve owned a few SanDisks over my photography years & none of them have failed me.
Received this (December 2009), bought a Patriot 16G class 6 (February 2010) when I started shooting in RAW format.
The Patriot just corrupted today, switched back to this card, & ordered a second a few minutes ago.
Bought this again because even if Patriot replaces my 16G, I’ll probably only use it for video & stick with SanDisk for photos. I can’t afford the time to reschedule an entire shoot if I ever lost 16Gs worth of images.
I shoot at 15.1mp, 3.4fps and recommend class 6 cards as a minimum for similarly capable cameras. 0 lag write time & infinite burst shots in JPEG, bursts of 9 & ~7 Seconds lag writing time in RAW.
I was very tempted to buy the latest and greatest Class 10 card (30 MB/sec read/write speed). But I took a chance that the old (and much cheaper) Class 6 card (20 MB/sec) card could keep up with my new digital camera. And it could, even when taking long HD movies in low light, the cache never overflows. I’m sure there are other applications (video cams?) which need that higher speed. But it looks like a Class 10 is serious overkill for most digital cameras. If you can find a Class 6, buy it and it will serve you well.
This is a great size so you can spend a day or two photographing all day and you do not have to worry about running out of space. I have taken thousands of shots on this card and never had a problem.
The SD Cards arrived very promptly and in brand new packaging. So far so good! The cards are reliable and working well.
