In the case of photo memory, MORE and FASTER is always the key. I have used SanDisk SD memory in previous iterations (1GM, 2GB, 4BG) and now 16GB. I find that they ALL exhibit the same excellent speed of writing to card, and readiness for next shot. I don’t have the ability to measure the speed, but the 16GB card writes and readies for the next shot as quickly as each of its predecessor SanDisk SD Ultra cards I’ve used, so I recommend it without reservation. Slower cards may suit the casual family gathering; but for the enthusiast, nature lover or if you want semi-professional results where time is of the essence, nothing will beat the SanDisk Ultra SD card. And unless you use the camera for feature-length movies, I see no reason to require 32GB when they come out. I find for most purposes, the 5GB picture mode more than sufficient for sharp definition at 8X10. Maybe 10GB if you want to make 2′X3′ posters!!
Great company with great products, as usual… Just as fast as the 30MB/s in most devices….
It is exactly what I was looking for and works amazing with my new Canon Rebel.
Pros:
-works perfectly fine so far
-works well with my Kodak Zi8
-fast file transfer speed from card over to pc
Cons:
-so far none found
This is my full-time Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 card. Shoots 2 hours of hi def AVCHD at 17 Mbit/s smoothly. Using the hi-speed burst feature, also shoots 10 pictures/sec smoothly. Granted, on the ZS3, hi-speed burst mode is limited to 2-3 meg picture size and 100 pics total, no lag detected, but not comparable to DSLR performance. Hi def video and picture playback on the ZS3 using the mini-HDMI port to a 50″ hi def TV is equally smooth. Just a perfect card for the ZS3.
Repeating a tip read elsewhere and attributed to the pros: for card longevity when using a Windows computer, just copy your files, don’t use move or delete. Use the format function on the camera (not the computer) to delete files from the card, and use the camera’s delete function to delete individual files.
Note: Purchased from Beach Camera, through Amazon. My card arrived quickly and says “Ultra” not “Ultra II” but does have the 15 MB/s on the front. This is simply a marketing name change, nothing more.
