Over the past few years, I have tried a lot of rechargeable AA batteries. The eneloop ares my favorites by far. I have even tried other brands of slow discharge types, and found them to run out of “juice” faster, despite similar mAh ratings. My only theory is that Sanyo has figured out better than their competitors how to create a battery that discharges more slowly when not in use. The mAh rating of these batteries is confirmed by my LaCrosse charger at around 2.0.

I knocked the Durability score one star only because these batteries seem to last the longest straight out of the package. After their first charge, they seem to require charging a little sooner. Still, they are better than what I have observed with other rechargeable batteries. They are a little more expensive than many other brands, but because they last so long each charge, and come back again and again, they are actually an excellent value. Plus, I’m glad to be doing my small part to help the environment by reducing my battery waste (which would otherwise be significant, considering all the toys and Wii remotes used by my 3 kids!)

purchased these for a photographer, and she went from going through 20-30 AA batteries per wedding to changing these out. She gets more photos per set of batteries, her flash was performing much faster with quick recycle speeds. initial cost was not bad, and it is now saving her money and our environment on the tons of batteries.

Simple. If you leave these (or other NIMH) batteries in a device that drains them and keeps them drained for a month or more you will once again have crappy, unreliable batteries.

I replaced all my old AA and AAA Nimh batteries with Eneloop- about $150 worth. I HATE grabbing batteries straight out of my Maha PowerEx charger and having them fail after only a few pictures with my camera or hours on the Xbox controller. I thought Eneloop was the answer and holy grail of batteries but now have some that take almost no charge.

I had 4 Eneloop AA batteries in a left on radio for a month, which held them drained completely. These 4 now are just like the crappy batteries I replaced, holding little charge even after refreshing and conditioning them. I guess I am going to be playing the ‘find the good battery’ game with my Eneloops too.. Bummer. It’s not the batteries fault, any would not recover properly from being drained for extended periods of time- it’s just that I could have chosen cheaper to replace my old ones with.

You have been told the reality of Nimh batteries. Please mark this as helpful as I did not fully understand what was happening to make my batteries bad and people really don’t talk about it at the review sites, or here.

Worked a whole event at the circus. My regular batteries died after two hours of use.

I’ve had these batteries in my camera for over three weeks, took a number of photos and they still hold a charge…pretty impressive so far.

I’m waiting to see how they hold a charge once I recharge them myself.
