This camera does everything on it’s own! I always hated having to try and figure out what kind of setting to put on my previous cameras so that the picture would come out the best… after a while I would just put it on “auto” and hope for the best. This camera detects it’s surroundings and will adjust to whatever environment you are in automatically! It will detech backlight and eliminate it and also detect if it’s a portrait picture, landscape, etc. Plus it looks so slick and small enough to put in a clutch purse or pocket. People ask me how much I paid for this like it must have costed so much money so it even looks expensive! I love this camera!

I bought this camera as an upgrade from my 3 year old 6 MP Sony. Initially it seemed enticing, what with the 12 megapixels, slim profile, and touch screen. Don’t let the bling fool you. The quality of the pictures are horrible, and the autofocus leaves a lot to be desired. The touch screen isn’t hard plastic like the iPhone, and got a scratch just from being in my pocket. A closeup reveals a lot of “noise” and almost all flash photos have a gray haze to them that the most advance photo retouching cannot remove. Zeiss is probably rolling over in his grave knowing his name is on this camera. This would be awesome, because it has a lot of practical in camera functions, but until the quality is right, they aren’t even worth mentioning.

This camera is by far the best camera I have ever owned. I am ***shocked*** by the pictures I take with the flash. Instead of washing the photo out, it is crisp and clear and bright. Some of the first pictures I took were of my dog in my apartment at night. And there is no way you could tell it was dark in that room!

The touch screen was a concern for about 30 seconds. I was unsure how I would feel about it. But once you know where all of the settings are, switching back and forth from flash to no flash, from picture to video, from regular to macro (up close), etc is so easy and possible to do with one hand. The touch screen is now the best part of this camera in my opinion. It comes with this little plastic pen that attaches to the wrist cord. If I’m editing the pictures or seriously messing with the settings I can use the pen, but if I’m just making small adjustments while shooting, a finger tip does very well.

The volume could be a little louder on the camera during playback. But once you upload the videos to a computer, the sounds isnt a problem.

Make sure you get a case for this camera though. You dont want to risk messing up the huge screen!

I usually dont write reviews but I find them helpful. I love Sony and this camera was a huge disappointment. We are returning it because of poor picture quality. We have DSC-H5 and love the pictures, but it is hard to carry around. We wanted a compact camera that would still take good pictures. Many of the pictures were blurry and often had a weird white light on them. We tried adjusting the settings but the pictures poor in good light and poor light. The worst were pictures at night or in a dim lite restaurant. Try something else…

I have owned two of these cameras. The photo quality is great and it has a sleek design but the touch-screen is so weak that it easily cracks. My second one just cracked so I felt compelled to write a review. In this most recent case, the camera was just in my front jeans pocket and cracked due to the pressure from walking around (I don’t wear tight jeans).

I have other touch-screen devises (iphone, blackberry, etc.) and have never head a problem. The screen on this camera feels different though; it flexes when you touch it. Since most of the camera’s controls are operated through the screen (as well as the viewfinder), when it’s cracked the camera is basically worthless. Also, because you have to be so careful with it, you don’t use it as much as you might other cameras.

I will not be buying this camera again; I’ll get one that has a more solid construction.

    Hope this is helpful.
