   I have used 3 different versions of Webroot Spysweeper now for over 6 months without major issues.

   Other reviewers complain about the [...] toolbar, when other software vendors do the same thing for Google,

   MSN, Yahoo and others. If you would watch your installation screens as carefully as you should, you can easily

   see these unwanted “add-ons” and uncheck the box before installing the actual program by disk or download. You

   have no business complaining about your own negligence and blaming Webroot.

   For Windows 98 and Me, I’m using v4.0.3 from disk, and will upgrade this to v5.5 because of limited definitions.

   Spysweeper for MSN v6.1.0.124 was downloaded to Windows XP SP3 w/IE 7.0 with only the installation failing first

   try. A call to Webroot technical support was made, the uninstall program downloaded to my desktop, program removed

   and then re-installed without ANY issues since.

   SpySweeper v6.1.0.145 from disk was installed for XP SP3, w/IE 7.0 and has worked just fine, no issues whatsoever.

   The higher v6 and above versions block many kinds of adware, tracking cookies, and other surfing vermin from even

   being placed on my computer, a welcome and safer improvement from the usual quarantine and remove later from other

   definitely inferior products.

   I can recommend Webroot SpySweeper without reservation to anyone who wants a superior anti-spyware program for XP.

   It works, but had to manually register at webroots website for product. With a id like computer gamer, you’d think the products from the seller would be a winner. But product was inactivated product from Bestbuy, so product was no better than trial version. Will never buy new, except through an established seller like amazon.

   As for the product, Kaspersky’s Internet Suite is a better product than this piece of junk, as it occassionally alerts me to intrusions or ads.

   Don’t waste your time on this product. Get a more proactive antivirus/antispyware suite like Kaspersky’s Internet Security, as I’ve only had experience with this one.

   I have bought Spysweeper for about 3 years now and finally had to sit back and think. What is it doing for me and my computer? Nothing!!

   Everyday I still get spyware on my computer that has caused my computer to crash 3 times. The only thing that spysweeper blocks is legitimate programs that you are trying to install.

   Trust me, this program does not work well and is not worth the money. Get a better program than this, like Spyware Doctor!!

   I have been a dedicated user of this program for the past 3 years. I have recommended it to others. I now concur with the other negative reviews.

   I felt deceived when it added the Ask toolbar, without my knowledge. I also got tired of wasted time due to their nagging me to add the antivirus program. I suspect anyone paying for a spyware program is savy enough to already be using a good security program.

   It also missed a keylogging program, as did Windows One Care, which resulted in credit card fraud. I switched to Norton 2009, and it found nothing. After becoming suspicious of nightly clicking noises from my computer, I checked CNET, added the free Spyware Terminator, and it immediately identified and removed the high threat program. The clicking stopped.

   Have used this product for eight months on 3 computers. One with Xp, another with Vista Business X64 and finally Vista Ultimate X64. While the first two machines seem to function well without issues, the later machine takes forever to boot to a usable state. After doing some investigating, I found the Webroot product very slow to load and extremely slow to update at boot thus locking me out of any normal tasks I might want to do. I wonder why the other computers seem process Spysweeper quicker at boot. This had become quite an annoyance. I uninstalled Spysweeper, used the Webroot clean up utility and installed PC Tools SpyDoctor. I find this product plays a lot nicer with this machine and allows a much quicker boot time.
